App Phase Completion

The last few months have been a whirlwind of app building, slack migrating, and conference attending! All of which has resulted in what I firmly believe to be a healthy and strong Empathic.Health community full of a powerfully diverse membership — all aligned in our mission to craft the best healing community for our members, and to have fun doing it.

With the end of the calendar year upon us, I believe now is the ideal time for a 100% Community Focus phase of the community. Details are outlined below.

Community Values Council

The 1st Community Values Council (CVC) held an introductory meeting this past week. I will write a separate post on the Council in the coming weeks, but here is a high-level view:

Purpose:

  • Help steward the community on large, impactful decisions.
  • Co-create and oversee the community profit-giving plan, as well as safety & moderation policies.
  • Provide a trusted sounding board for the Chief Empathy Officer.

Format:

  • Made up of 7 volunteer community members, including the Chief Empathy Officer.
  • 4 quarterly meetings equalling 1 year of service, with Council Members selecting their replacements from the community.

The significant takeaway from this week: with the support of the CVC, Empathic.Health will enter a 100% Community Focus phase on December 1st. Details below.

100% Community Focus Phase

I have absolute love in my heart for every one of our 113 members as of today. I want to put all of my time and energy into crafting the best healing community for you.

I firmly believe — like many of you — in the ebb and flow of nature, the natural expansion and contraction of all things. Growth can not always be the goal. The Empathic.Health community is no exception to this rule of nature.

For that reason, starting December 1st we will temporarily pause accepting new members. If you would like to invite any new members before the 100% Community Focus phase, please do so before December 1st! I anticipate we will resume new member additions January 1st.

This is being done for the following non-exhaustive reasons:

Community Management: To create helpful content for members on how to use the app, update our Community Guidelines, re-organize app Pathways, introduce Frequencies (1-on-1 member connections), introduce The Park (24/7 members-only private virtual hangout space), introduce partners (special discounts with value-aligned organizations), introduce dormant account policy, foster community culture

Member Experience: Craft onboarding flow, set up proper feedback channels

Brand: Update website, update app appearance

Operations: Introduce Empathic Team

With this renewed community focus, I am confident the rest of the year will be an exciting time in Empathic, and our community is in the best position possible to realize our vision of healing ourselves, our communities, and our planet.
